In today's fast-paced world, it's all too common to find ourselves merely going through the motions, especially in our professional lives. I've been there, and that's why I'm passionate about helping others break free from this cycle. My mission is to guide you toward a career that not only pays the bills but also brings genuine happiness and fulfillment. How many moments in your life have you stopped and asked yourself, “How did I even get here?” All too often we just let life happen to us, rather than us dictating what life we are going to create!
The Reality of Job Satisfaction
Understanding the current landscape of job satisfaction sheds light on why this mission is so crucial. Recent studies reveal:
Job Satisfaction Trends: In 2022, only 62.3% of U.S. workers reported being satisfied with their jobs, the highest level since the survey began in 1987—yet that still leaves nearly 40% of workers unhappy (Conference Board).
Income and Satisfaction: Job satisfaction varies by income, with 57% of higher-income workers expressing high satisfaction, compared to 45% of lower-income workers (Pew Research).
Age and Satisfaction: Older workers (65+) report higher job satisfaction (67%), while younger workers (under 30) report the lowest (44%) (Pew Research).
These statistics highlight a significant portion of the workforce feeling unfulfilled. This dissatisfaction doesn't just stay at work—it spills into every aspect of life, affecting relationships, health, and overall well-being.
My Journey to "Why"
For over 15 years, I climbed the corporate ladder in the retail and tech industries. I worked hard, held leadership roles, and built teams from the ground up. But somewhere along the way, I realized that while I was achieving success on paper, I wasn’t feeling fulfilled. I was exhausted, drained, and bringing my stress home to my family.
My husband and two kids often bore the brunt of my unhappiness. I would come home mentally checked out, too tired to be present, too consumed by work stress to enjoy the most important moments with them. And when my 9 year old daughter asked, “Mom, are you okay? You don’t seem very happy lately?”, I knew that I wasn't living the life I wanted for myself—or for them.
One of the biggest reasons I decided to pivot into career coaching was to do something that I was truly passionate about—helping others find jobs they love, while also making sure I had energy left over for what truly matters: my family. I wanted a career where I could show up fully, both for my clients and for my loved ones. After all, everything I do is for them. My goal in life is to create a ripple effect of positive change, one person at a time!
